Bishop Brodie returned to Christchurch from the north on Saturday.
Mr H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., returned from Wellington on Saturday.
It is announced that Mr David F. Reid, manager of the Bank of New Zealand in London, is retiring, and Mr Tohn Forbes, assistant manager in London, will succeed him. Other staff changes include the retirement through Illness of Mr R. W. Stevens, manager of the Te Aroha branch of the bank, who will be replaced by Mr L. B. Savage, manager at Whakatane.— P.A.
Captain R. S. Judson, V.C., D.C.M., M.M., retired list, has been appointed a temporary lieutenant and given command of a platoon, Guards, Vital Points, Northern Military district. Sir Joseph Ward has been appointed consul for Belgium at Christchurch with jurisdiction in Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, and Westland.
Mr G. N. Francis has been appointed viceconsul for the Netherlands for the district of Canterbury.
