-4 TRIBUTES TO FORMER MAYOR OF KAIAPOI

The popularity of the Rev. W. H. A. Vickery and Mrs Vickery was shown on Thursday evening, when a large gathering of residents of the borough assemblfed at the-Poresters’ Hall, Kaiapoi, to mark the recognition of Mr Vipkery’s long term of office on the Kaiapoi Borough Council, the last 12 years-Of which he has been Mayor of the borough. The Mayor (Mr E. G. Gray), Mr L. B. Evans (chairman of the North Canterbury Hospital Board), Mr C. W. Tyler (Mayor of Rangiora), Mr H. C. Revell (chairman of the Kaiapoi Fire Board), Mr H. O. Hills (chairman of the Waimakariri Harbour Board), the Rev. T. M. Curnow (Kaiapoi Ministers’ Association), and the Deputy-Mayor, (Mr; A; ,E.-Brown) • for the residents of the borough, paid tribute to the excellent work done by Mr and Mrs Vickery in the; welfare and progress of the'.town, and wished them future happiness and r ,prosperity. lie • Mayor/ for friends ■ throughoyt the borough, presented Mr Vickery with an illuminated address and a wallet of notes, and Mrs Vickery with a lady’s handbag. ■ , '_ .
