German in Defence Area.—A request that the Minister for Justice (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason) should explain to the House of Representatives whether the Government had considered any further action than the sentence of 21 days’ imprisonment imposed on Rudolph Hirter, a man of German descent, who was found hiding among the bushes in a defence area with a pair of powerful field-glasses in his possession, was made in a question of which Mr H. S. S. Kyle (Opposition, Riccarton) gave notice in the House yesterday.—P.R.
