Accident at Riccarton Aggravate was destroyed at Riccarton yesterday owing to breaking a fetlock, He was having a gallop with Kilrobe, and pulled up suddenly near the three-furlong post. He was recently purchased; from Messrs H. A. Rhind and H. Nurse by Mr A. Curfagh, of Westport, for whom he won two races on the West Coast, and was booked to be taken there again by Nurse on Saturday. ' Good Jumping Recollection was responsible for an attractive display over five of the schooling steeplechase fences at Riccarton yesterday, and his stable-mate, Night i Dress, jumped four hurdles in a smart manner. Both horses are to appear at Ashburton next week. Wellington Owned Haughty Winner and Parchment, owned by Mr T. Coltman, of Wellington. have joined C. McCarthy’s team. The former has done a good deal of work'on the Porirua beach in recent weeks, and is well advanced. He will probably make his reappearance at Ashburton. Parchment is a four-year-old English colt by Papyrus, and although he has won one race this season. he has several times failed to race up to his track ability, and has been one of the most expensive horses raced in the North Island in recent months. Racing at Greymouth . A fairly strong team of horses will represent Riccarton at the Greymouth Jockey Club’s winter fixture on Saturday, including Wlnchelpea, Haughty Lad, Irvington, Princess Minerva, Greenbank, Lights Out, St. Cloud, Roy Bun, Flame Queen. Ferriby. The Sandwlchman, Good Health, Kilrobe, Philibun, Avenal, Sir Frederick, Citizen, Dispense, and Liane. > Six Successive Wins The Hastings-owned sprinter, Sunny Knight, continued his winning way on Saturday by scoring his first win in open company and his sixth on end, beating a useful field of sprinters in the Heretaunga Handicap, the only open flat event on the first day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s winter meeting. Sunny Knight is a three-year-old gelding by Galnscourt from Sunny Maid, by Psychology from Sunny Roe by Sunny Lake from Merry Roe. Agalp Failed to Stay • Three of the six runners fell in the Winter Steeplechase at Ellerslie on Saturday, and the race was won at double figures by the outsider, Smilin’ Thru’. Jewish Lad was left well clear when Saint Musk and Bells of Bow fell at the fence near the six-furlong post. Crossing the double with a round completed, Jewish Lad was out 12 lengths' from Dozie Boy, Gar Vaals, and Hornpipe. Going along the back Dozie Boy and Hornpipe began to move up a little, but they fell at succeeding fences. It then appeared impossible for Jewish Lad to be beaten, but he was tiring and Smilin’ Thru’ caught him just before the last fence to beat him by four lengths. Dividend’s Success The Campbell Hurdles at Ellerslie, was also a fiasco, three of the runners falling at the second fence, and another baulking at the fifth. Black Musk went out to make the .pace, only to fall at the second fence and bring down Esperance Bay, who in turn caused Baldric to fall. After that Dividend went on in front, closely attended by Hessketoon and Gold Spot, and they were almost together. Turning along the back Hessketoon baulked at the •fence near the seven-furlong post, and Dividend jumped clear. Dividend went on to an easy win by six lengths from Gold Spot. Hessketoon was set going again and completed the course for third. BAY OF PLENTY R.C. ACCEPTANCES (PA.) AUCKLAND, June 10.
