GENERAL SERVICE CORPS
MrS Cecil Wood presided at the monthly meeting of the General Service Corps. Mrs H. D. Christie reported that during the month the knitting groups had completed 50 scarves, 70 balaclavas. 7 pullovers, 15 pairs of seaboot stockings, 75 pairs of mittens, and 12 dozen footless socks. Mrs M. Banks said that Mrs Dickson had been appointed superintendem of ’the nursing division in which a class of 50 was undergoing instruction. Mrs B. C. Penney, officer commanding the transport section, reported that owing to the resignation of Mrs O. Herdman and Miss B. Tonkin, Mrs A. S. Geddes and Mrs p. O’Shea were appointed to take charge of this section. ■ Mrs E. Rudkin spoke of the success of the last entertainment held at Lytt teiton, and mentioned dates arranged for dances and concerts to entertain officers and men of Z company, Battery Point, and Godley Head, for the month of June. The North Christchurch Garden Club was thanked for a donation to Mrs J. W. D. Mardon, to be used in her St. Albans group for work for the Lady Galway Guild, Ten groups are now engaged In this work, and a large number of garments have been made. Mrs Mardon also reported that members had helped in two recent street appeals.
