GENERAL SERVICE CORPS

MrS Cecil Wood presided at the monthly meeting of the General Service Corps. Mrs H. D. Christie reported that during the month the knitting groups had completed 50 scarves, 70 balaclavas. 7 pullovers, 15 pairs of seaboot stockings, 75 pairs of mittens, and 12 dozen footless socks. Mrs M. Banks said that Mrs Dickson had been appointed superintendem of ’the nursing division in which a class of 50 was undergoing instruction. The North Christchurch Garden Club was thanked for a donation to Mrs J. W. D. Mardon, to be used in her St. Albans group for work for the Lady Galway Guild, Ten groups are now engaged In this work, and a large number of garments have been made. Mrs Mardon also reported that members had helped in two recent street appeals.
