BOY SCOUTS DOING WAR WORK
— o — FOR PENSIONS SUGGESTED (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, June 10. A decision on the granting of protection by way of war pensions or otherwise to boy scouts under the age of 16 years who are, or will be, doing national service as runners and on other duties was asked for by Mr J. A. Lee (Democratic Labour, Grey Lynn) in a question to the Minister for Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr Lee asked the question on behalf of the Hon. W. E. Barnard (Democratic Labour, Napier). ■ "The great majority of boy scouts are under the age of 16," Mr Lee said. “While their parents are in most cases more than willing that they should give all possible service, they are naturally anxious that where risks are being run, at least equal to those being run by their seniors, equal protection should be available.”
