The-Forty-Hour Week.— A special meeting of delegates to the Wellington Trades Council passed a resolution protesting against the recent attack on the 40-hour week by the Chamber of Commerce and the press. The resolution emphasises that an emergency council has been set up, at which employers and workers are equally represented, to deal with applications for extension of hours, and the council had extended hours in all . cases where it had been established that increased hours would increase the country’s war effort Press Association.
