BRITAIN’S COAL STOCKS

‘‘NO SHORTAGE NEXT WINTER” LONDON, June 8. The Secretary of Mines (Mr p. R. Grenfell), speaking in South Wales, said that there would be no shortage of coal in Britain next winter. The output had reached new record figures, providing all the supplies required for immediate purposes and enabling stocks to be built up for the wmtei. He expected to see further increases in output now that the miners realised their importance in the war effort.
