METROPOLITAN GOLF ASSOCIATION
♦ DISCUSSIONS AT FIRST MEETING The Christchurch Metropolitan Golf Association held its first meeting recently. . The association consists of the following clubs: —Avondale, Christchurch. Kaiapoi, Rangiora, Rawhiti, Russley, Richmond Hill, Templeton, Waimairi Beach, Waitikiri. Mr M. H. Godby, the delegate from the Christchurch Golf Club, was unanimously elected to the position of chairman of the management committee. The delegates discussed the question of handicapping and the possibility of obtaining some uniformity among the clubs in this matter, and a sub-committee was set up for the purpose of making a report to the management committee. The sub-committee appointed were as follows; Messrs A. R. Blank (convener), S. Morris, C. L. Kindle, H. Throp, G. J. Leech. A discussion took place about golfers who make a practice of visiting clubs and paying green fees, and who do. pot belong to any club. It was decided to ascertain the cost of introducing, a system of membership cards, so that golfers could produce their cards when visiting other clubs. ! It was arranged that clubs should cooperate with regard to defaulters, and that the Metropolitan Golf Association should be provided with a list of defaulters from the various clubs. The management committee agreed that smaller clubs should be entitled to any advice which larger clubs could give on the maintenance of their courses.
