RATES FOR COMING YEAR A credit of £2314 16s at the bank, as compared with a debit of £3IOO last year, was revealed in the report submitted by the finance committee to yesterday’s meeting of the Mackenzie County Council. Receipts for the month totalled £896 Is lOd, and that day’s pay-sheet amounted to £IOOO 13s 6d. , ' The balance-sheet for the year ended March 31, 1940. which had been returned from the Audit Department, was considered, and the clerk and office staff were complimented on their work. .... ' i . Notice was given that the rates be fixed as follows; General rate, 1 11-32 d in the £, the same a 4 last year; Fairlie water and sewerage loan, Id in the £. Special charges were levied as follows:—Burke’s Pass water supply, same as last year; Fairlie sanitation, 38s a year; Downlands water supply, £3 15s a house, and 9d an acre; Ashwick water supply, the same*as last year. It was agreed to purchase an oil refiner. It was agreed to contribute the sum of £lO to the Pioneer Park Domain Board. _________________
