LOCAL TURNOVER NEGLIGIBLE Markets continued dull on call on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday and the recorded turnover was negligible. Price levels on the whole were well maintained. Buyers of New Zealand Government 4 per cent, stock, due 1949, raised their bids to £lO3 without attracting sellers.

Unsupported sellers of Bank of New South Wales reduced their limits to £2B ss. Bank of New Zealand were firmer, with buyers at 375. Buyers of New Zealand Refrigerating (10s pd.) moved up to 7s Id, but sellers were reticent. Buyers of British Tobacco raised their bids to 45s 6d, sellers firm at 475. Broken Hill Proprietary were stronger, with buyers at 42s 6d. Dunlop Rubber were steady at 21s 6d, market closing 3d either way. New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. 4J per cent, stock, due 1950, changed hands at £Bl, and further buyers at £79 met with no response.
