WAIKATO MINE DISPUTE
; MEN STILL IDLE (P.A.) HAMILTON. May 2. v Men at the Macdonald coal mine are still idle, and as they are not being supported 'in their :■dispute by the district council of the Northern Miners’ Unlon.it appears that a deadlock has been ; reached. It is understood that the district council is not handling the matter’'in any way' and it, has also been since'the then- ceased work on Monday, after 14 days' notice blf their intention, to do so, there have been no negotiations dr discussion between representatives of the men and of the. owners., , ■ it is,thought/. although no official statement to the effect has been given, that the men are expecting some word from Wellington to-day.
