RECRUITING FOR AIR FORCE
• ; ■ ♦ —- DISPLAY ARRANGED IN CITY EQUIPMENT SHOWN TO PUBLIC A display of Royal New Zealand Air Force equipment, said to be more extensive than the display prepared for the Centennial Exhibition, will open at Ballantynes to-day at 2.30' p.m., and will remain open till the end of next week. The display is part of the recruiting campaign for air-crew personnel, and it will be possible for recruits to obtain application forms on the spot, before appearing before the Air Force selection committee which will be in the city all next week. Many Air Force activities are illustrated in the display. There are armament, radio,-bombing, and electricalsections. The most conspicuous exhibits are a complete Link trainer—the device used for ground instruction in instrument flying—and a fully assembled Avro aircraft. An engineering section will contain, full-size aeroengines. Other sections will show parachutes and a drogue target-towing apparatus. In addition to the equipment there is a remarkable collection of photographs from England illustrating the work of the Fleet Air Arm and the Royal Air Force, taken during actual service operations. The whole display will ocupy a great part of the building. The complete aircraft alone takes ‘up considerable space, and a window had. to be removed before it could be taken inside. It is emphasised that the, Air Force personnel on duty with the display Will :be carryirig out ordinary routine training duties, and* .that training is in ho way interfered with. The aircraft used is one that is due for overhaul.
