MEETING OF COMMITTEE ’ first meeting of those who had consented to act as a school committed ,{h*watch : the interests' of the new children's* occupation centre in MerivalfeMahe’jtvas held on, Wednesday evening at the office of the Canterbury Education Board. Present were: Mdsdafttes* :B, W. *C. G. A. Sommers, S R. .B* Cape Williamson, W. Mackay; Messrs E; H. S. Hamilton, G. P. Purnell,-B. G, K. :steven, H. J. Williams, and R. B. -Cape Williamson, Dr;- H.-’E, Field (Rrofessor of Education 'at Canterbury University College), Mr Wi -. J. Cartwright - (headmaster of the Normal School), and Messrs C. S. Thompson and L;, E. Rowley (Canterbury Educatidri Bo£rd) were alio present; ; > ;Mr -Thohipsdn described the aims of the new:;cehtrei- and welcomed the recently appointed principal teacher of the centre, Mrs S., Morrow. Appreciation was 'expressed of the ■ work of Miss A. 1. Raven,' of the Normal School ; .stafl,., who- has been in charge ol the-: centre, pending the appointment of a permanent, l head. /Thanks were expressed for gifts of •books f r ;by - Messrs ' Whitcombe and Tdnibs;‘Ltd., ahd of a radio set by Mrs Banks. ::I t Mr G.
