PERSONS TRAPPED IN WRECKAGE
♦— RESCUE DEVICE BEING TESTED (Received April 29, 11 p.m.) LONDON, April 20, A lieutenant of the Polish Army and a Dunfermline engineer have devised a wristlet broadcasting set to help in rescuing those trapped from wreckage. The Home Office is testing the device, which sends out oscillations on 0 fixed wave-length by slight pressure on a celluloid strip. The oscillations can be picked up by,the ordinary portable radio, and rescuers equipped with di-rection-finding coils are able to locate trapped persons. The broadcaster weighs six ounces, is three inches in diameter, and operates for 44 hours. The small dry battery can be mass-produced for ss.
