TROTTING NOTES

A Reminder Final payments for the New Zealand Derby must be made by 5 p.m. on Thursday. Forbury Park Club The final event on each day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting is a mile and three furlongs race, 3min ssec class. These races have attracted good nominations, and both events should be hard to win. The field for the Flying Handicap on the first day is ns follows; Three Tens. Worthy Need, Huguenot, Mankind. Bronze Eagle, Pleasant Guy, Ochiltree, Great Don, Colonel Axworthy, Colonel Grattan, Trireme, Special Edition, Acuity, Stormtost, Slippery Sam, Foremost Junior, Fremont, Gold Bank, Boan Duke, King’s Jubilee, Gold Bar, Happy Locanda, Bowi, Superior Bank, Clockwork.

May Improve Bush Laddie failed rather badly m his engagements at Addington, but he will be afforded a rare chance in the trotters’ events at Forbury Park. The class he is set to meet each day is not strong in numbers, and on recent running Tan John, Biworthy, and Manna’s Son are the only ones likely to trouble him. Bush Laddie at his best is a good trotter, but at Addington he met the best of his class. Juvenile Racing

For the Oamaru Juvenile Stakes, to be run on Saturday, a good field should be on parade, and while Pacing Power is likely to be the favourite, other well bred youngsters may help to make an exciting race. Included in the field may be the following:—Warform by U. Scott—Erin’s Pointer; Hargood’s Pride by Jack Potts—Hermes; Courtcard by Jack Potts—Nantwich; Communique by Grattan Loyal—Latest News; Sandyways by Sandydale—Eugenia; Nigex by Maxegin—Louvain Locanda; Knapdale Lass by Galllard—Rose Logan; Amarita by Jack Potts—Daisy Audubon; Flawless by Quite Sure—Rough Diamond: Teddy Grigg by Quite Sure —Sister Rose; Great News by Great Bingen—Daphne de Oro; Mimi Boy by Red Shadow—Blue Mountain King mare; and Papillion by Jack Potts— Lady Rey. This field includes the majority of the good two-year-olds in commission, and the race at Oamaru will provide a good test for the Sapling Stakes to be run at Ashburton. Only one two-year-old race—the Timaru Nursery Stakes—has been decided in Canterbury this season, and Pacing Power won comfortably from Scottish Air and Courtcard. Scottish Air, by U. Scott—Airflow, does not appear amongst the acceptors for the Oamaru race, and this may be bad luck for her owner, Mr J. R. McKenzie. Scottish Air is from the best American blood, and on her showing ii\ the Nursery Stakes she appeared as one likely to improve. In the Nursery Stakes at Timaru there may have been a reason for the strong support accorded W. J. Doyle’s filly Warform, who finished filth in a big field. She may be one of the favourites at Oamaru.
