At Amberley The Amberley Racing Club has received satisfactory acceptances for its annual race meeting, to be held on the Amberley racecourse next Saturday. The club will give all the profits from the fixture for patriotic purposes. A special passenger train will leave Christchurch at 9.5 a.m., and the trains will leave Greneys Road at 4.30 p.m. and 4.50 p.m. There was no acceptance for the Novice Stakes, and the only defection from the list of nominations was Ann Mie, who became ineligible following her win at Washdyke on Saturday.

Big Burden King’s Toast’s weight in the G. B Starky Memorial Handicap at the Amberley meeting was raised from 9-7 to 10-2, and he was not accepted for. Change of Quarters Gladynev, who has been in A. E. Neale’s stable since he was purchased by Mrs D. Levin, Wellington, last January, is being transferred to B. Burgess's team at Opaki. He has had only three starts in his present colours, and in one of them he was a close third to Colonel Bogey and Piastre in the King George Handicap at Manawatu last month. He has been nominated for the Cornwall Handicap at Ellerslie, but meanwhile his future movements are uncertain.

Sydney Yearling Sales A Sydney cable message states that at the yearling sales eight colts representing the first of Midstream’s progeny aggregated 4355 guineas. The top price, 950 guineas, was pak for the Midstream—Loquacious colt, and other prices were 900 guineas for the Midstream —Social colt, and 600 guineas each for two other Midstreams. Ten Midstream fillies brought 2790 giuneas. Mr Alan Cooper bought the Beau Pere—La Corporale colt for 800 guineas. Several other Beau Peres were passed in. Five ’'eilmond colts sold at prices ranging from 220 to 350 guineas. The top price for Brueghel fillies was 650 guineas. Four colts and two fillies by The Buzzard realised 3900 guineas. New Sire Midstream, whose stock came up for the first time at the Sydney sales, is standing at Mr Percy Miller’s Kia Ora stud. Midstream Is a well-bred horse and was a good performer in England. Ho is by Blandford frpm Midsummer, by Abbot’s Trace (son of Tracery) from Dew of June, by Polymelus. As a two-year-old Midstream won the Boscawen Stakes and dead-heated in the Criterion Stakes. In his only other start he was fourth in the Middle Park Stakes. He was a winner at three and four year. His top-priced colt, out of Loquacious, is a half-brother to Feminist, and his dam is a sister to Windbag. The Midstream —Social colt is a half-brother to Talking. Both these come from New Zealand families, Loquacious being out of Charleville, by Charlemagne II Nithsevo, by Stepniak, and Social by Absurd from First Class, by All Black. Mr Cooper’s purchase, out of La Corporale, is from an imported mare, by Craig-an-Eran, from Gueriere 11, by Verwood. La Corporale is a Frenchbred. mare, and was the winner of two good races at Vichy.
