WOMAN KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR-CAR Mrs A. McFarlane, of Worcester street Christchurch, was admitted to the Public Hospital on Thursday morning after receiving head injuries m an accident about 10.45 o'clock. She was knocked down by a motor-car on the corner of Worcester street and btanmore road. Her condition was reported yesterday to be satisfactory. MOTOR-CARS COLLIDE Two motor-cars, travelling in different directions, collided about a mile and a half north of Saltwater Creek about 7.30 on Thursday evening. Five of the passengers were taken to me Christchurch Public Hospital by me St John Ambulance, but only one was admitted. She was Mrs J. Mclntyre, of Conway,, Flat. She suffered head injuries and bruises. Her condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. The other f<pur were treated as out-patients and discharged. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED Serious head injuries were received by David McKenzie, a carpenter, of South Riverton, Southland, when a motor-cycle he was riding collided with a bicycle ridden by David McCrea, aged 12, of 130 Chalmers avenue, Ashburton, on the Main South road at Tinwald last evening. McKenzie, who was accompanied by another motorcyclist, was thrown from his machine and struck his head on the bitumen. He was admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital, where his condition last evening was reported to be serious. McCrea received head injuries, but was taken to his home after receiving medical attention. CYCLIST INJURED J. P. Smith, aged 69 years, of 653 Worcester street, suffered shock and abrasions when his bicycle collided with a motor-car at the corner of Ferry road and Matheson’s road yesterday evening. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition last night was reported to be satisfactory. BOY INJURED Trevor Albert Waterreus, aged 10 years, of 77 Ranfurly street, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from a fractured femur caused by a fall from a bicycle. His condition last night was satisfactory. MAN KILLED IN WELLINGTON The man who was killed in Lambton quay, Wellington, on Wednesday evening, has now been identified as Henry Tait, aged about 62 years, a visitor to Wellington from Pongaroa. He was crossing the street when a tram, travelling south, struck him, inflicting head injuries, which proved instantly fatal. —P.A., Wellington.
