Sherwin, Waimate. WOMEN’S INSTITUTES MOUNT PLEASANT The annual, meeting of the Mount Pleasant Women’s Institute was held in the Croquet Club's pavilion, Mrs H. Edgar presiding. A report of the institute’s work during the last year was read. An offer by Mrs.A. C. Sandston of a medicine chest and first-aid equipment was accepted with thanks. The election of officers for the forthcoming year resulted as follows: —Pre : sident, Mrs H. Edgar: vice-presidents, Mrs F. A. Roche and Mrs E. Turland; honorary secretary Mrs A. J. MacDonnell; honorary treasurer. Mrs T. Stanton; committee, Mesdames A. Clarke, W, Fleming, W. Keenlyside, E. Wilcox, and Miss Bridgman. Mrs R. Sladen and Mrs G. W. Oliver were appointed delegates to the Canterbury feredation’s annual meeting. The out-going committee acted as hostesses for afternoon tea, after which i a selection from “Cranford" was readj by Mesdames Worrall, Turland, Roche, and Oliver, A competition for a float-bowl was won by Mrs Fleming, with Miss HoodWilliams second. ROTHERHAM Mrs Robinson (president) presided at the monthly meeting of the Rotherham Women’s Institute. The roll call was “A Gardening Hint.” The president, on behalf of the institute, presented Mrs Britton (the retiring president) with a small token of appreciation for her services to the institute.
