The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) and the Minister for Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) have consented to act as patrons of the New Zealand Industries Fair in Christchurch this year. The Rev. J. F. Fisher, vicar of Kumara, has been appointed to the cure of Prebbleton. The Rev. R. P. Taylor, assistant-curate of Avonside, has been appointed to the cure of Kumara. Lieutenant-Colonel J. Hardie Neil (retired list) has been appointed to command the 12th Field Ambulance. The appointment is dated March 1. Messrs T. Slade, C. E. Jones, and E, L. Beeson (workers’ representatives), and W. Cassels Brown, G. R. Arkinstall, and M, W. Wright (employers’ representatives), and Mr J. A. Gilmour, S.Mi (chairman), have been appointed an emergency disputes committee for the purposes of the Strike and Lock-out Emergency Regulations, 1939. . Mr Robert Wilson has been appointed assist-ant-secretary to the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, according to advice received in Christchurch yesterday. Mr Wilson was born in Christchurch, and was educated at the Christchurch West High School, Canterbury University College, and Victoria University College (Wellington), passing the accountants’ professional examination and obtaining the degree of Bachelor of Commerce. He joined the Tourist and Health Resorts Department in 1926, and was transferred, In 1936 to the Christchurch district office of the Industries and Commerce Department as assistant-district officer. He returned to the head office in 1938, and has been associated with the import control policy since its inception - .
