NEW SHORT-WAVE STATION
r•♦ , • FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S PROPOSAL
(Received April 9, 2 a.m.) CANBERRA. April 8. The, Commonwealth Government contemplates building the most powerful short-wave broadcasting station in the southern hemisphere at a, cost of about £250,000. It would be Osed for transmitting news to the Australian forces overseas and later for general Australian publicity purposes. The station will be comparable with the British Broadcasting Corporation and big American stations. Details are now being considered.
