DEMOCRATIC LABOUR PARTY
EXPULSION OF MR E. L. HILLS RECOMMENDED
A decision to recommend the national executive of the Democratic Labour Party to expel Mr E. L. Hills “for his indiscretion in going to__the newspapers” was made by the Canterbury provisional district council. on Tuesday night. Delegates also decided that the district council should disband and that a divisional council be formed. The motion recommending expulsion was carried by a large majority. Mr Hills attended the meet, ing. “I am not authorised to say anything,” Mr H. E. Fenton, the Canterbury secretary of the party, said when he was questioned about the decision; “We have a press committee, which, will decide on the statement to be Issued.” Advice that the •• affiliation of the Woolston branch has been refused by the national executive has been received by Mr Hills.
