ACCOUNTANT SENT TO PRISON
FOUND DRUNK IN CHARGE OF MOTOR-CAR (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON. February 24. Raymond Sydney Carter, aged 35, an accountant, was sentenced to imprisonment for 14 days with hard labour at the Petone Magistrate's Court to-day for intoxication in charge of r. car yesterday afternoon. His licence was cancelled for a year. The police said that a constable s*nb Carter and two soldiers drinking be'hr in a parked car. On Constable Lee’s suggestion Carter handed over the keys of the car. but later the constable heard the car being started and saw Carter driving away. He gave chase in another car and stopped Carter, who was taken to a doctor and certified as unfit to drive.
