ACCIDENTS
MOTHER AND CHILDREN INJURED FOUR OF ONE FAMILY IN . HOSPITAL (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEOHAM.) HASTINGS, February 24. A mother and three children were admitted to the hospital at Hastings this afternoon following a motor accident at Raukawa. when a motor-car, driven by Sydney Dobson, of Raukawa, collided with the rear of a truck and rolled over a bank. The injured were:—Mrs Alice Dobson, concussion and internal injuries, condition serious; and a month-old baby, who suffered fractured ribs and is also in a serious condition. The other two children, Lois, aged three, and Violet, five, had lacerations and bruises, but their condition is satisfactory. The father escaped injury. YOUNG CHILD’S DEATH WELLINGTON, February 24. Struck by a motor-car at the intersection of the Great North and Titirangi roads, on Saturday afternoon, Grace Downing, aged seven, of 106 Great North road, who suffered concussion and fracture of her right arm, died in hospital this morning, POSTMASTER DROWNED IN EVANS BAY WELLINGTON. February 24. Mr Allan Kirkpatrick, postmaster fit Kilbirnie, was drowned at Evans Bay on Saturday afternoon. Two swimmers brought him from the water, but artificial respiration was unavailing. LEG FRACTURED IN FALL A fractured right leg was suffered by Alfred Baker, of 48 Hilton street, Kaiapoi, when he fell while cutting a hedge at Kaiapoi yesterday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital.
