SUBSCRIPTIONS TO WAR LOAN
♦ POSITION OF PROFESSIONAL MEN ON SERVICE [THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, February 24. It w&s recently reported that the next-of-kin and representatives of professional men who had gone abroad with the armed forces had received notices that they had defaulted in their subscriptions to the compulsory war loan. It was learned to-day that the British Medical Association has made representations in official quarters on the subject of the War Loan liability of professional men serving with the forces at greatly reduced incomes, and that an assurance has been given that subscriptions vUI not be demanded. However, the trustees for the representatives of the absent men must give a certificate that subscription to the loan will involve hardship.
