FRANCE’S NEED OF FOOD
MR CORDELL HULL’S STATEMENT (Received February 6, 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 5. The United States Secretary of State (Mr Cordell Hull) said tuat discussions between the United States and Britain on the possibility of lifting the blockade to permit the shipment of more food to unoccupied France would await tangible evidence that the needs were acute. The statement followed reports that the French Ambassador (M. HenryHaye) was seeking to obtain the release of frozen French funds to permit the purchase of food.
