ENGAGEMENTS
The engagement is announced of Lucy Matilda, youngest daughter of Mr and the late Mrs Brook. Douglas street, Timaru, and Private John Stuart Agnew, second son of Mr and the late Mrs Agnew, Sawyers Bay, Dunedin. The engagement is announced of Audrey Lorna, only daughter of Mrs A. Harris and the late Mr H. R. Harris, Teddington. to Thomas Blair, only sOn of Mrs S. Fife and the late T. D. Fife. 207 New Brighton road, Burwood. A combined whist parly was held by the West of England Society and it? women’s association recently. Prizewinners were Mrs Oliver, Miss Merle Emerson. Messrs Ballinger, Maxwell, Horniblow. and A. Rhodes. Mr Broad and Mrs Hammett spoke briefly to members and thanked Mr Chappell for a donation. Members of the Mount Pleasant Garden Club were entertained recently at morning tea by Mrs H. Edgar and Miss Hood-Williams, and later had the pleasure of inspecting Dr. and Mrs A. C. Sandston’s beautiful garden. The rock garden, miniature pools of water liles. and delphiniums were much, admired and at parting member's were each given a flower from a particularly large delphinium. J.
