CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
♦ ROVER SCOUTS’ RACE AT CASHMERE
Thfi final event of the cross-country season, the annual race for the Rover mug, was held at Cashmere on Saturdy. The race was open to all Rover crews in Canterbury. It was won by W. J. McDowell. „ o finished about 50 yards ahead of T. O. Clarkson. The junior championship was won by M. Cardwell from N. Horniblow, and the teams' race by the Lawrence crew, with second, third', and fourth placings. The race was held over a six miles and a half course, laid by M. Wells, startin' from the Methodist schoolroom in Dyer’s Pass road. M. Cardwell led from the start, and was still in front at the Kiwi, •put at the track behind the Sugar Loaf McDowell went into the lead, remaining in front for the rest of the journey, along ins Summit road and down through Victoria Park. Clarkson moved up into second place at the Takahe. Results were; W. J. McDowell (42min 55sec) 1; T. O. Clarkson (42min 59sec) 2; L, Wooles (43min Isec) 3; J. Ede (43min 4sec) 4; M. Cardwell (43min 7sec) 5: J. Pycroft (43min 20sec) 6; J. Clarkson (43min 43sec) 7; E. Clarkson (44min Isec) 8; N. Thompson 3: S Underhay 10; A. Wright 11; R. Flewellen 12.
