FUND TO BUY FIGHTERS
SUBSCRIPTIONS FROM
CANTERBURY
Further contributions from Canterbury received over the week-end towards the fund for buying fighter aeroplanes for Britain amount to £55 14s. This brings the total amount received to date to £3694 5s 9d. Only a week remains before the fund will close. British airmen have again in the last two days inflicted heavy damage on enemy forces. They are, for the time being at any rate, the spearhead of the Empire’s attacking forces, and their brilliant and gallant achievements have earned the admiration of the world. The fighting aeroplane fund is a fund to assist in keeping these brave men in the air, and all patriotic New Zealanders will wish to make a contribution to this end. The opportunity is still with them.
In error an amount of £lO, instead of £2, was acknowledged in Saturday’s list from F. and E. Clunie.
