Stated by counsel to have .been locked up in the ship’s prison with a guard over him all night until he was taken to the police station, George Arthur Farnworth, a civil servant, pleaded guilty in the Magistrates Court before. Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., to a breach of the Shipping Emergency Regulations by going aboard a transport some time ago without a permit. The police said the accused was noticed leaving the ship about 9.45 p.m. When asked to produce a pass he refused and gave a false name. Later he admitted his identity and produced a pass which, had been cancelled when the ship was last in England. He was fined £2.
