FLOWER SHOW AT ST. ALBANS
ENCOURAGING AMATEUR GARDENERS A flower show and fair, to be held to-morrow in the St. Matthew’s Parish Hall, at the corner of Colombo street and Edgeware road, has been arranged to encourage amateur gardeners in the St. Albans district. It is hoped that, as a result of the show, a horticultural society will be formed in the district. The show, which will be open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., will be opened by Mrs George Gould. Many entries have been received for the 80 sections provided. In the flower sections there will be competition for daffodils, polyanthus, pansies, violas, primroses, auriculas, hyacinths, ranunculus, anemones, tulips, camellias, wallflowers, and flowering shrubs. There is a vegetable section (cookery classes for adults and children), a needlework section, and a hobbies section for children. There-will also be eight stalls selling home-made cakes, meat, eggs, butter, tea, vegetables, novelties, sweets, books, and other articles. All the flowers and the exhibits in the cookery sections will be sold. Afternoon, tea and light meals will be available. The prizes will be presented at 8 p.m. Admission will be Ire^
