A PHENOMENON

TO THE EDITOR OP THE PRESS. Sir—Since Monday last, August 19. your pages have been searched for a description of an unusual object seen m Vos. sky that day. In this locality the sky was clear and sunny, and there was no ground wind when was seen what was thought momentarily to be a piece of a blazing aeroplane falling from a great height. Immediately the object showed clearly, a large coneshaped cap of shining metal with fire, describing an arc and hidden from sight by trees before it reached earth. On walking out into the open one found the cattle and young horses grazing quietly, so one concluded that the object fell to earth miles away. Can you or any of your readers enlighten me as to this occurrence.— Yours, etc., ; GREENDALE. August 24, 1940.
