QUESTIONS FOR MR SEMPLE
TO THE EDITOR OF . THE PRESS. Sir.—As a returned soldier I was disappointed with the Hon. R. Semple’s reply to "Returned Digger” in “The Press” of August 1. “A man’s ability is the first consideration,” says Mr Semple. But who is the judge? I would ask Mr Semple to state plainly if he considers it-fair that returned soldiers should be unemployed while Italians ar d Germans hold good jobs? I hope the Returned Soldiers’ Association will take this matter up and see that preference is given to returned ■; soldiers. If the returned soldier has not got the ability it is because he fought in the last war, and he should not be penalised for that.—Yours. etc., AN ANZAC. August 1, 1940.
