Mrs M. Bethell presided over the monthly meeting of the Culverdcn branch of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union held in the Presbyterian Sunday school recently, when a good number of members were present. Competitions were won by Mrs D. Sterritt and Mrs W. B. McMillan. Members brought a large number of mittens to be forwarded to the Red Cross. Mesdames D. Sterritt and S. Popple well were the hostesses for the afternoon.

UNWOOD BRANCH Miss M. B. Lovell-Smith gave a talk on “Pioneer Women" at the Memorial Day meeting of the Linwood branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. It was reported that the sewing circle was doing excellent work making clothes for refugees. Mrs R. Black

gave a report of visits paid to inmates of mental and other hospitals, and of gifts of fruit and flowers sent. Mrs J. D. C, Madill led the devotions, Mrs J. Turner gave a scientific fact, and Mrs G. Stokes spoke of the progress made by “Y” branches.
