M’CREADY BEATS O’CONNOR (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WANGANUI. August 1. After each man had secured a fall, Earl McCready beat Dan O'Connor on points in a wrestling contest to-night. The bout went the scheduled eight rounds. KATAN BEATS CORBETT (PRBRS ASSOCIATION rfcLBOfcAJHJ DUNEDIN, August 1., Securing the only fall of the match in the seventh round with a specialty lock, the Empire champion, John Katan,^ scored a win over Joe Corbett to-nxght. The bout was marked by several exchanges of hard wrestling, .relieved at times by interludes of somewhat forced showmanship* Katan had the better, of the contest throughout, and always had the measure of his opponent. BLOMFIELD V. O’CONNOR Sergeant-Major “Lofty" Blomfield will meet Dan O’Connor in a bout at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday night. Blomfield has been in the Army almost since, the outbreak' of war, and has made fewer appearances In the ring, but his performances are better than ever. His military training has kept him Bt, and he has been able to avoid the suggestion of staleness which has sometimes been apparent'after he has had a particularly, gruelling spell of travelling and wrestling. O Connor is always ready to stand up to anything that his opponents.; no matter how formldabletheir reputations, may be able to produce, and in BlomfieJd’s case he has some bid; scores to wipe OS.
