MILK ZONING SCHEME
' ♦ INTRODUCTION POSTPONED LARGE VOLUME OF WORK When .the organisation of the milk zoning scheme was first undertaken, it was hoped to have the scheme m operation by yesterday, but that has been found impossible. The staff of the Milk Board is still engaged in digesting S' mass of statistical .material which will have to be dealt with before the scheme comes into operation. It is thought that some time will still have to elapse before the scheme will be brought in. • The staff of the Transport Department, which has been mainly responsible for the organising work, has been extremely, busy for many weeks on details. Voluntary helpers have also been called in from time to time, but much still remains to be done. “We have found at almost every stage that more work has’been required than we thought,” said Mr J. J. B. Connor,,secretary of the Milk Board, yesterday. One problem that has caused the board a lot of anxious consideration is the question of delivering to individual consumers their requirements in either raw or pasteurised milk, No decision has been reached yet on this point by the board. "The question is being given the closest study," said Mr Connor. “Many factors enter into. it, and before it makes any move the board wants to be in possession of the fullest and latest information.”
