TEMUKA Thera was a medium yarding of fat cattle at the Teinuka sale, The quality was the best for some time. Competition was keen and prices were firm at late rates. Prime steers made £ls 7s fid to £l7 7s Bd, medium £ll 7s fid to £l3 7s fid: extra prime heifers to £lB 2s 6d, prime £l2 12s fid to £l4 2s Bd, medium £lO to fill 7s fid; extra prime cows, £l4 17a fid to £ls 7s fid, prime £lO 2s Gd to £l2 17s Bd, light to medium £7 12s Gd to £9 12s Gd. Two races of fat sheep were forward and a fair proportion of the yarding comprised light and unfinished ewes. Prime sheep were again in good demand, but inferior sorts were not wanted- Extra prime wethers made 40s 4d to 43s lod, prime 37s Id to 30s 4d, medium 32fi to 35s Id; extra prime ewes to 3Gs 7d. prime 2Bs to 33s Id, medium 24s Id to 27s lOd, light and unfinished 10s Id to 16s 7d. TINWALD There was a limited yarding of fat sheep at the Tinwaid stock sale yesterday. The quality of the lines offering was excellent,- however, and some high prices Were obtained. The market on the whole was firm, fat owes selling up to 33s lOd and fat wethers from 31s Id to 47s lod. The top price of the market was obtained by P. G. Rickard (Riverside), who sold five wethers at 47s lOd each, the highest price realised at Ashburton or Tinwaid this year. Another good price was reached by W. Giddings (Ealing) for a pen Of ewes at 33s lOd each. Principal sales were: — Ewes—On account of W. Giddings (Ealing), 46 at 28s lOd to 33s lOd; G. H. B. 1411 (Willowby), 2 at 28s 9d: T. M. Hampton (Tinwaid), 16 at 21s lOd to 24s Id; A. D, Morrison, 26 at 18s 4d to 25s 7d; V. and D, McLean (Alford Forest). 26 at 22s 7d to 30s Id; K. Campbell (Lagmhor), 9 aCais lod to 23s 4d; D. McCone (Mayfield), 18 at 12s Id to 15s Id; clients, 146 at lls 4d to 32s Id. Wethers —On account of Miller’s Estate (Lagmhor), 6 at 38s 7d to 43s lod; W. H. Sims tLowclifF), 5 at 25s Id to 36s 4n; P, G. Rickard (Riverside), 5 at 47s IQd; H, M, Copland (Dromore), 12 at 34s 7d to 37s lOd; S. J. Daley (Eiffelton). 1 hogget at 33s 6d: clients, 42 ewe hoggets at 20s 4d, 38 wether hoggets at IBs, 88 two-tooth ewes at 21s to 33a 3d, 38 ewes at 13s, ' RANGIORA The following was the range of values at ihe weekly stock sale at Rangiora yesterday:— Sheep—Sound-mouth ewes, 18s to 21s 6d; forward wethers. 22s to 2Gs 3d; two-tooth ewes, 23s Id Cattle—Springing heifers, £5 10s to £7 30s: fat cows, £7 10s; calves. 29s fid. Pigs—Porkers, 57s fid to 64s fid; stores, 40s; slips, 27s to 29s 6d; weaners, 22s to 265.
