U.S. Fleet Auxiliaries—The United States Navy Department has bought from the Grace Line the Santa Barbara and the Santa Maria for 1,300,000 dollars each to use as fleet auxiliaries. The department has now bought five such vessels at a cost of 6,452,000 dollars, and is negotiating for at least two more.
