WELLINGTON, July 23,

The weather forecast for- Canterbury, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows;

Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair to fine, with rather milder temperatures. Seas slight. »

WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:—

Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair to fine, with moderate temperatures. Seas slight or moderate.

DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:—

Weather for the most part fair to fine. Some mist or fog over the Auckland peninsula, however, possibly with scattered drizzle. Temperatures cool, with sharp frosts to-night. Pressure is high and fairly uniform over the Tasman Sea and the New Zealand area. A slight disturbance is located to the north.

Winds—Mainly light to moderate in force, and variable in direction. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Slight. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate easterly winds prevailing in the northern portion, and north-westerlies in the southern portion. Seas slight to moderate.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

The weather yesterday was fine and sunny, with a light westerly air. The maximum temperature was 51.2 degrees.

At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and a light easterly breeze was blowing. The temperature was 41 degrees. The barometer was steady at 30.40 in (1029.5 millibars).
