“Patsy, why are you talking?” asked Miss Arneson, In a harsh tone. “I was asking Edith for a rub* her/’ Patsy said. “Well, learn this poem as a punishment for talking in class.” 'At that moment Miss Webley came in. “1 have lost a valuable gold brooch,” she said. "Let me know if any of you girls find it, and I will give you a reward. And, by the w,ay, Patsy and Vera, your dormitory is very Untidy.” “Go and tidy it,” said Miss Arneson to the two girls, as soon as Miss Webley had left the room. Patsy and Vera went off to their dormitory. “Aren’t you glad Miss Arneson sent us to clean the dormitory? I was finding that sum terribly hard," said Vera. “Yes, so was I,” said Patsy. “Oh, here’s Miss Webley’s brooch, she must have dropped it here When she came out of our dormitory,” said Patsy. Vera picked up the brooch and took it to room 5. She knocked at the door. “Come in,’’ said Miss Webley. • “Here is your brooch.” said Vera. “Thank you,” said Miss Webley. “Here is your reward.” And she handed oranges and grapes to the two girls.
After, they had finished tidying their dormitory, Vera and Patsy had a most enjoyable play lunch. —VERA WALLACE, Opawa.
