Little Princess Pearl was going to have her tenth birthday Very soon, and she was looking forward to all the presents 'she Khew she would get. Princess Pearl was
having a lovely dress made out of the finest silk, with a httle velvet jacket and a red sash. At last the great day came. The. royal dining room was decorated with coloured lights, red, pink, blue, and yellow, and the tables adorned with silver dishes. What excitement there was throughout the palace. • When the little princess went to breakfast she found on her chair a bulky parcel. She picked it up and unwrapped it hastily. In it she found a pair of little silver shoes. Oh, how lovely,” she said, very ones I Want. She put them on carefully. They did look lovely. For days and days the little princess wore them, until she wore them out. “1 shall have to keep them always,” she said happily, and this she did. BARBARA TURNER
