Sir,—Several weeks ago your paper published a statement to the effect that a sum of money had been set aside for increases in salaries paid to student and graduate staffs of public hospitals. I have recently been informed that although the staffs of other leading hospitals in the Dominion have been in receipt of this increase for. the last two months, that of the* Christchurch Public Hospital, has not yet benefited by it. More should be done to safeguard, the interests of a section of the so valuable to the country in a crisis such as we are now facing.—Yours, etc., ' FAIR-PLAY. June 19. 1940. Increases in house surgeons’ salaries had been made operative from June 1 and would be received when, the next monthly salary payments' were made.
