This new beverage, Nestle’s lodised Cocoa, in a tin with a red label, is no different in general food value and delicious flavour from the familiar Cocoa in the blue labelled tin: the iodine content cannot be detected by taste, but is sufficient to assist normal functioning of the Thyroid gland. It tends to prevent goitre, so common in New Zealand where iodine deficiency is prevalent. Thus Nestle’s lodised Cocoa gives warmth and energy, builds resistance to winter ills and at the same time remedies a deficiency that may endanger health. NESTLE’S lODISED COCOA IS RECOMMENDED AS A PREVENTIVE OF SIMPLE GOITRE Authoritative opinion endorses the administration of iodine in small quantities over a period, as preventive treatment of goitre. The proportion of Potassium lodide in Nestle’s lodised Cocoa, 1 part in 150,000 parts of Cocoa, is scientifically determined and in accord with accepted modem practice.
