RABBIT PEST
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—The Hon. P. C. Webb proposes utilising unemployed labour for the destruction of rabbits. Here, again, you cannot expect men without experience to do this job. You want men of resource who have studied the destruction of rabbits to make a success of it, men who know what kind of feed and what kind of poison to use for their destruction. What suits one district may not suit another. Also, if a man is not getting results with one fomftila, he requires to know what to switch over to for another trial. So what the Hon. P. C. Webb requires is some competent men to take charge of the destruction. Trapping and shooting are of no avail if you want to exterminate the pest.—Yours, etc., 5655, S.A. April 22, 1940.
