CHEAPER BOAT FARES
CO TBB EDITOR OT _ THE PRESS ; Sir, —Allow me a small space to express my-views- about cheap fares ,to the Centennial Exhibition. The Railway!; Department is ' advertising: cheap.
railway fares. Does that include the South Island or the North Island only? Now. what I am complaining about is the steamer express ferry service. Why couldn’t the company have run excursion fares, say £1 return. I am sure there are thousands of working people in the South Island who would have . visited! the .exhibition.—Yours, 6tC - NOT GOING; April 18, 1940. [The manager of the Union Steam Ship Company' (Mr H. H. Dobie) said be had no comment to make on this letter.]
