FIRST AID EXAMINATION The following are results of the firstaid examination held at the Training College on April 8, under the auspices of the North Canterbury centre of the Red Cross Society:—Jean StrUthers (honours), P. McMurray, Edith. Hughes, Mary Mrs Taylor, Diana Allen, M;. Cuthbertson, Lola Sangester, M. Monteatly Anne Donald. Ivy Barker, Margaret Morrow, Doris. Witbrock, Emily Oats, N. H. Harris, Bertha Donald, E. Kinzett, and Millicent Armour. FENDALTON SUB-CENTRE Mrs E. Luttrell presided oyer an attendance of 60 members at the annual meeting of the Fendalton sub-centre of the Bed Cross Society, held in St. Barnabas’ schoolroom. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted, and Mrs Luttrell reported on the business done at the conference recently held in Wellington. It was decided to meet on the first Monday of each month and to hold a bring-and-buy sale at each meeting. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs Luttrell: vicepresidents, Mesdames M. H. Godby, J. W. K. Lawrence, and Eric Millttpn; honorary secretary, Mrs K. W. Robinson; honorary treasurer, Mrs Millton; committee, Mesdames Gerald Anderson, G. H. Buchanan, W. P. Glue, J. K. Hardy, A. E. Foote, Llyn' Lawrence, Misses M. Oxley, J. Wilkin, Higgins, and Mulligan.
HARVEST FAIR The staffs of the Combined Free Kindergartens held a harvest fair at Richmond Kindergarten, each kindergarten being ’in charge of a stall, and Mr Sturgess being master of ceremonies. An enjoyable programme of folk dancing and music on pipes was given by some members of the Christchurch Country Dance Club— Misses M. Barrett, B. Barrett, F. Akins, B. Bigg-Wither, J. McAllister, M. McAllister, L., Cockerell, and P. Benseman. Sister Jones judged the baby show, the results being as follows: —Under six months: Beryl Cave and Alan Jerman. Over six months: Carol Smith and John Barrick. The fancy dress parade was judged by Miss Robertson, the prize winners being Joan Spooner, Coleen Burke, Peter Roberts. Betty Jerman, Janice Derbidge, Julie Suckling, Joan Derbidge, Peter Spooner, Teddy Cave, Teddy Jerman, and also. Mrs Spooner, who had most children in fancy dress.
