The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — Lisht to fresh north-east winds. Weather fair to fine, and cool. Seas slight. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair to fine, and cool. Seas slight. DOMINION The following is the Dominion forecast: — Weather for the most part fair to fine, but occasional passing showers still likely on_ parts of the east coast between Gisborne and Kaikoura. Temperatures cold, with some sharp frosts in the south tonight. An anti-cyclcne extends over New Zealand and the northern Tasman Sea, while a shallow depression is located to the south of Tasmania. Winds—Light to moderate and rather variable, but with south-easterly directions still predominating about and north of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Slight to moderate. , Eastern Tasman Sea —Light to fresh south-easterlies in the northern and central portions, and northerly winds in the southern portion; seas slight to moderate.
