SILVER WEDDING CELEBRATED

MR AND MRS H. L. DILLIMORE Mr and Mrs H. L. Dillimore, in celebrating their silver wedding, were honoured at two parties at their home in Dunsandel, the first given by their son and daughter, and the second by Christchurch relatives. Those present at the first party were Mesdames E. G. Wright, W. Meagher, H. L. Dillimore. W. Robertson, Sollitt, Stewart, W. Gardiner, Upston, W. Balloch, Jones, Manson, Misses Noeline Wright, Mavis Joseph, Mavis Dillimore, Mary Ballock, Mildred Jones, Agnes Henderson, Ngirie Frampton, Bridie Meagher, Doreen Gardiner, Josephine Wright. Nola Cook, Messrs H. L. Dillimore, H. F. Dillimore, N. Stephens, E. G. Wright, W. Gardiner, W. Meagher, W. Robertson, W. Chatterton, Upston, W. Ballock, A. Wright, J. Gardiner, K. Meagher, J. Gardiner, sen., S. Weir. Competitions, musical items, and games were enjoyed. Mr and Mrs Dillimore received many gifts from their family and friends. Those present at the surprise party in Christchurch were Mesdames Swaney, Dillimore, Smith, Stanton, Woods, McLeod, Misses Mavis Dillimore, Alma McLeod, Doreen McLeod, Dorothy .Woods, Messrs B. PLUNKET SOCIETY

CHRISTCHURCH BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Plunket Society was held,, in." the Plunket Rooms. Chester street, with Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson presiding. Mrs E. O. Trerise was appointed to the committee. Mrsß-E.H. Wbitccmbe and Miss A. Buckley were - appointed -to the house ■sub-committee in *lace of Mrs J. E K. Brown and Mrs W. G. Scannell, whose term has expired. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring members. It was reported that Miss Dolton, child psychologist, had been granted the use of the committee room on Tuesday afternoons to hold classes for mothers. A Karitane nurse will be in •attendance to look after the children. Donations towards the Hospital Furnishing Fund were received from the Papanui-Merivale sub-branch, Lm-;wood-Avonside sub-branch, Riccarton sub-branch, Sydenham - Spreydon sub-branch/ Shirley-Rich-mond sub-branch, New Brighton subbranch, Greymouth branch. Reef ton sub-branch. Lady Hosking, Mesdames F. H. Pyne, Jennings, A. K. Hadfield, • and Baxter. Donations towards tile :Hospital Maintenance Fund . were^received from the Dunsandel, Marshland, and Cheviot sub-branches. Members were asked to collect goods to sen at “Paddy’s Market” to be held in For the Lady King Karitane Hospital, the matron reported, that .16 babies ,had been admitted, and 11 discharged, beven mothers had been adnutted to the “Mothercraft” cottage and. five discharged. There had been six candidates for the nurses’ examinations held before Easter. Dr. J. F. Landreth, Dr. Francis Bennett, and Nurse Allan had -taken the oral examination. , For the Plunket Rooms, Nurse Allan reported as. follows: —Pre-natal set>tion:. PAPANUI-MERIVALE SUBBRANCH

The monthly meeting of. the committee of the Papanui-Merivale subbranch of the Plunket Society was held, in the Papanui Plunket rooms. Mrs B. E. H. Wbitcombe presided over a good attendance of members. . Nurse T. N. McMillan’s report for the month was as follows; —Visits to Papanui rooms: Mothers 270, babies 264; visits to homes: new cases 18, old cases 24; new cases for the month 16; total 586. It was decided to give £5 5s to the Lady King Karitane Hospital. Arrangements were made for the annual meeting to be held in the Christchurch Plunket rooms early in May. Mesdames J. Ferrier, G. A. Holder, and Watson-Dawson will be hostesses at afternon tea. A special invitation will be given to the mothers’ committee to attend. It was decided to hold a jumble sale early in May.-
