FAREWELL TO SOLDIERS
GATHERING AT HEATHCOTE The Club Hall was filled when Heathcote residents gathered to bid. farewell to Lieutenant Connolly, Privates Porteous. Williams, Loader, Mcf Tigue, Burbery, and Lowe, former residents of Heathcote and now members of the 2nd Echelon, New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The first part of • the evening was devoted to a musical - programme given by the Lytteit m ’ Harmonica Band, conducted by Couttie. Recitations were give-. - 'j Mrs Priddy.' A gift suitably inscribed , was presented to each soldier 'by Mr j C. Flavell.
