BOYS’ ASSOCIATION FOURTH ROUND PLAYED On Saturday the fourth round of matches was played in the Canterbury Boys’ Cricket Association's competition. Two centuries were scored, the successful batsmen being B. Taylor, of Christchurch Boys’ High School, and B. McCormack. of St. Bede's College. W. Dunn, of Christchurch West High School, secured a “hat-trick,” . The following were the results:— Under 16 1 Christ’s College 123 (Macbeth 46) for seven wickets, beat Christchurch Boys’ High School 111 tor nine wickets declared, by 12 runs on the first innings. Papanui Technical College 110 (Atkins 46) beat Technical Old Boys '45, by 65 runs on the first Innings. Under 16 2 Christ’s College 108 (Bennett 50 retired) beat St. Bede’s College 66 (Fahey 46 not out) by 42 runs on the first innings. In a postponed game, Christchurch Boys High School 122 (Holland 84 not out) for five wickets, beat St. Bede's College 52. by 70 runs on the first innings. Under 16 3 New Brighton 46 and 93 (Thomson 51 not out) for two wickets, beat Technical Hostel 50 and 46, by eight wickets. Crewe, five wickets for 18 and six for 26, and Thomson five for 9 and four for lj>, bowled well for New Brighton, as did Edwards five for 13, and Hamilton five for 25 for Technical Hostel. ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND. March 31. Bright cricket with good scores characterised the first day’s play in the final series of the Auckland Cricket Association's championships. DUNEDIN, March 31. ‘The Dunedin grade cricket premiership for 1939-40 was won by the Grange Club from Carisbrook A, and the Dunedin season ended on Saturday when matches were stopped early by steady rain which came as a surprise after a beautifully -fine early afternoon. Grange 288 beat Carisbrook A 143 (H. Cameron 54; Lemln four for -48) and 35 for none, on the first innings In the final. Kaikorai (264) escaped with a drew against Dunedin (167 for one) (Macassey 77 not out). University, 215 for five (Rennie 65 not out, Baker 49 not out) recovered well to beat Old Boys, 172, on the first Innings, and Carisbrook JB, 105 and 122 flfillviir six for 44) beat Albion 73 and 83 for one, on the first innings. • The final state of the championship was Grange 50 points, Carisbrook A 44, Dunedin 37,' Kaikorai" 32, Old Boys 28, University 28, Carisbrook B 24, Albion 21. FRIENDLY MATCH The annual cricket match, W. L. King v. E. Reece, Ltd., played at Hagley Park on Saturday, resulted in a win for W. L, King’s team by 84 runs. E. Reece, Ltd., batting first, scored 128 runs, W. L. King replying .with 212. Principal scores: E. Reece, Ltd., R. Fraser 12, R. Tant 56, F. Ball 25, G. Graham 19 not out; W. L. King, J. Steele 12. M.
